Dig Deep With Shaun T.

Shaun T. shares his secrets for building a high vitality life.

Shaun T.: Dig Deep

Shaun Thompson  — better known as Shaun T. — is a staple on late-night television, spiking viewers’ heart rates long after bedtime with his infomercials for workout DVDs like Hip Hop AbsRockin’ BodyInsanity and Asylum. These high-energy at-home routines use a minimum of equipment (often body weight only) and a maximum of positive energy to draw you in and keep you moving.

The 33-year-old former professional dancer has sold 4 million of these workout DVDs and splits his time between New York, Los Angeles and anywhere else he’s asked to deliver his message. The way of Shaun T. has become such a popular group fitness phenomenon that in 2010 he launched S.T.R.I.D.E., his own instructor certification course.

But Thompson’s philosophy stretches beyond fitness; he applies the same energizing principles to all aspects of his life, and encourages others to embrace them, too.

EL:  Has fitness always played an important role in your life?

ST:  I was always an active kid, and I did track and field from adolescence into adulthood — I was a 400-meter hurdler and sprinter. But when I went to college, I didn’t run track the first year because I was on academic scholarship and wanted to focus strictly on school. I gained 50 pounds that year, going from 178 to 228 pounds. I looked into a mirror one day and I was like, This is crazy! I was still athletic in my mind, but not physically. So, I changed my major from communications to sports science and I started going to the gym again, at first just working out for 10 minutes a day.

For my new major, I was assigned to teach a group fitness class. It was a hip-hop aerobics class, and I loved doing it. I got really good, and had 90 people who showed up to my class regularly. That led me into dance. Later, I got into kickboxing, step and boot-camp classes, too, and I started to realize I could do this for a living.

EL:  How did you parlay your love of teaching into a fitness empire?

ST:  Just out of college, I worked in corporate health in New Jersey and taught dance on the side. Then, in 2003, I was visiting a friend in L.A., and he suggested I go to a nearby dance-agency audition. I was like, “Yes, a free dance class! I don’t have to pay $15!” But I kept getting through to the next round and the next round, and they ended up asking me to sign with them. The first thing I did was call my mom, who told me, “You have to go; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” I figured I’d be a starving artist, though, so I arranged to teach group fitness classes at a number of gyms in the area to supplement my income.

But good things kept happening: I became a Nike fitness model, a back-up dancer for Mariah Carey, and I got to work on a DVD project Kathy Smith put together through Beachbody called Project: You! I helped her choreograph all of the routines.

In 2005, a producer for Beachbody who was taking one of my classes told me they were looking for a new kind of fitness program, and she suggested I come in for a 10-minute audition. It ended up being two hours long. From that point on we were creating Hip Hop Abs. Then came Rockin’ Body, and then Insanity and Asylum. It’s been the greatest experience of my life.

I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. I never, ever feel like I’m working. Wait, I take that back: The only time I feel like I’m working is when random people ask to feel my stomach muscles.

EL:  What do you think it is about your approach that people are most drawn to?

ST: I’m giving it so much passion. I’m connected to the feeling the person at home is having — I know how you’re feeling, and I know you can do this. I use empathy to draw you along. My main thing is, no matter what you do in your workouts or in your life, it’s all about becoming a better version of yourself. I never say, “You have to do what I’m doing.” I always say, “Do what you can do.”

That’s why in Insanity, my message is “dig deep.” People say to me, “You have no idea how that message has infiltrated other parts of my life.” It becomes about “I can either give up right now or I can do one more pushup. If I can just get one more rep now, I can propel myself even further next time.” It may sound clichéd, but that attitude extends to everything.

EL:  What do you think are the keys to building great energy?

ST:  The most important is, don’t put so much pressure on yourself. You have time to make things happen, and nothing is going to happen overnight. Saying “I have to work out for an hour every morning” or “I have to eat nothing but lettuce” will just become overwhelming, and why feel overwhelmed about something that’s supposed to make you feel better? Instead, how about doing five minutes the first day, and seven the next, and keep bumping it up again after that? You have to find a program that makes you feel motivated to do more. There is no fitness blueprint, no one right answer for when and how much. Just find a fun way to move that will add to your energy rather than deplete it.

I’ve watched the Insanity infomercials dozens of times. Close to ordering but holding back. Last straw was a casual endorsement ESPN’s sideline reporter Jenn; wherein she stated she uses Insanity on the road to stay fit. She wasn’t a paid endorsement, so its heart felt. Back in early January I weighed nearly 200 was in shock, as I thought I was at 185 or so. So, I’ve hit the gym. I’ve gone to LifeTime 2-3 times a week since mid January, basketball, limited lifting (side story – in HS (I played football) I benched over 300 so i don’t do that anymore as its embarrassing to struggle at 150 bench) but then again that was over 30 years ago. Anyway, you can find me on the stair master or eliptical pushing for 1,000 “calorie burn”; its a great sweat. I started to run again; I’ve mapped out a 5 mile path; and last night I ran (jogged some) it without stopping for the first time. I push myself, as I “run” mail box to mail box… pushing. But, i’ve hit the wall… 180 is the new 170… can’t seem to stay below it. Trying hard hard… but have oscillated from 175 to 182 the past month… GRRRR!.

So, now its time to get serious. So, I’ve been contemplating Insanity… to see if I can get the other 15 lbs. off. I’ve heard its hard and Shaun T is a motivator, if anything…

    Digging deep –
Finding that last bit of strength your mind didn’t know you had, but your body did.

  • Ewelina says:

Digging deep is something I can think about doing for a long time. Thanks to a good workout like this one I think we all can overcome obsticles that are without doubt a true experience. Where else can you find a great challenge other than Shaun has to offer? So I want to win this video to work out deeper without a doubt digging deeper into the root of hard core experience. Thanks for your cooperation, yours
    Ewelina…

  • KarenR says:

I’m digging deep to overcome the restrictions of osteoarthritis in my hips. I don’t want shots or pills, and i don’t want pain to impose limits on me. I will win this fight through exercise!

  • Jennifer M says:

I dig deep by thinking about the example I must set for my children. If I refuse to take care of myself and my health, how can I expect them to do any differently? If I refuse to push myself to do better, or I fail to fuel my body with quality, nutritious foods; how can I expect my kids to understand what I preach, but fail to personally demonstrate? I just read Shaun T’s article, and watched the EL video’s—-and I just dug a little deeper. Very inspiring.

  • jimmy says:

i dig deep becoz i want to build a great physique like Shaun T

  • Rehana Khan says:

I dig deep —- deep into my cultural roots. I come from a culture where exercise has NEVER been encouraged … especially for us women. We are to be the queens of household responsibilities. Growing up, I don’t ever remember my parents encouraging me to participate in any sports even in school – forget extra curricular! Life took it turns and here I am, a mother of three, fulfilling my duties of being a good daughter, wife and mother. Yet something was missing…….

I dug deep. Challenging my roots. My husband held my hand and we walking into the world of physical fitness. Having gained plenty of weight over the years, it was embarrassing being in front of women who could walk around in their sweaty bodies and work out clothes and look amazing! I started pushing myself in the right direction adding a little bit to my routine at a time. From barely being able to see my feet, i can now (almost) go into a forward fold and touch my toes! What a feeling! I feel like i’m on top of the world. I joined the run club and push myself to go just a little further every time. I plan on running my first 10K by the end of this year. For my family, i might have gone crazy. But for me, this is what i should have done many many moons ago!

My biggest struggle: staying away from simple carbs!! Every time i look in the pantry or fridge i literally have to ‘dig deep’ to get to the stuff i should be eating rather than the temptations — Thanks Shaun T for all you encouragement and motivation.

  • Yvonne B. says:

My did deep motto is “because I can.” In my job as a physical therapist, I deal with many folks whose bodies have lost the capability to do what they previously took for granted. This motivates me to look at every challenge as an opportunity to challenge my body, succeed or fail, BECAUSE I CAN! One day I may not be able to, so I do it for all those who can’t any more.

  • Tom E says:

I dig deep knowing my 50+ year old body must return to a healthy and fit state to allow me to see my son and duaghter finish their studies, begin their careers and provide as much enjoyment to their futre families as they have provided my wife and I over the past 20+ years.

Got to get after it each day – Insanity is the path to meet these life goals!

  • Rob J says:

Okay, it’s my day off from work and I’m having a hard day getting motivated so I sit with my Experience Life mag over breakfast and read the Shaun T article and get curious. I have a home gym with an elliptical & total gym, but y’all are sweating so I’ve got to try this.
ONE round and I’m bushed – definitely sharing this with my spouse when she gets home and I’m working my way up to three rounds – GREAT STUFF.

  • Kathleen says:

I dig deep by thinking about my long-term health and quality of life. I do not want to rely on medication to keep my blood pressure or cholesterol down. My husband and I don’t have kids, but I am the aunt that runs around playing with our young nieces and nephews until they are worn out. I love being active outdoors, but exercise videos (including Insanity) are the staple of my fitness regime. I am especially inspired by instructors like Shaun T who were once overweight, but are now in excellent shape.

  • deb says:

I dig deep by just starting. I know it’s the hardest part and if i can just MAKE myself start I will feel so much better in the end.

  • Erin says:

I am digging deep by working to get my personal training certification after losing my job. This is a total change of career and very challenging, but I am sticking with it!

  • Cyndi says:

I dig deep by having a motto Courage2. I use this when I let fear get in the way. I love to challenge myself but so often the little voice says you can’t, your too old, your tired. I have to dig deep and compete and complete what I started.

    • Mrs. Robinson says:

Shaun T. – all I have to say is YOU ROCK. Thanks for shaking up my world with a great workout that my body loves and my heart says thank you.

  • Jessica says:

Shaun T is such a great motivation and inspiration in eating healthy and being fit.

  • Jessie H says:

This might sound silly but when I need a boost I try on clothes that used to be tight, it gives me that little push that proves there have been changes and i know they will keep coming.

  • Barbara says:

    Hi,
How do I dig deep to motivate myself? I have R.Arthritis, survived bone cancer 2007 (in a polite way was told I had not long to live) doing my own thing when the doctors had no more resources to use on me. This was when I really dug deep :) I made a strategy & plan just like I had training for Ironman. Today I now have damaged kidneys from the chemo and unable to take any medicine for my arthritis and going to the gym feeling terrible some days takes huge motivation by thinking of a long term goal of not sure when it will be to perhaps one day do at least a Half Ironman – this is what keeps me digging deep to motivate myself :) In turn my training strengthens a very fragile body to enable every day life get a bit easier by getting a bit stronger. My mind blocks the pain away and focuses on the benefits of going to the gym :)

  • Whitney says:

I love Shaun and all his programs. If I had kids they’d be doing Shaun’s Fit Kids Club! Haha I dig deeper everyday. I’m on my 3rd week of Insanity and couldn’t feel better. I even got my sister into it. Working out with a partner has really helped me dig deeper because I feel like I push myself just a bit harder when someone’s watching. Even when I’m alone I watch Shaun and listen to the cues. I dig deeper for myself and those I love. I want them to see how I choose to live my life and enhance my wellbeing and maybe get them thinking to do the same. I’ve already got my sister started… One down… Infinity to go ;)

  • Natalia Ushak says:

I dig deep to motivate myself by evaluating my risks in life. I have ulcerative colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease) and endometriosis, so I want to stay as healthy as I can to keep my body from breaking down due to these illnesses. I also have a a laundry list of family history of illness from high blood pressure and heart disease to multiple types of cancers and Parkinson’s disease. Since I was in my teens, I’ve wanted to learn all that I could about prevention, health and fitness. I pursue this every day. I am a physical therapist and try to influence my patients in a positive way as well to encourage them to take control of their health as much as they can. I know I can’t change my genetics, or get rid of my chronic illnesses, but I dig deep to strive every day to do what I can do. I struggle with chronic back and neck pain as a result of my colitis and some nerve damage from the medications that I’ve been put on. Some days, my life gets extremely overwhelming as more and more medical bad news comes my way. The way I cope and get through it all is by working out, eating healthy and staying positive. I want to do everything I possibly can to make my body as healthy as it can be!

  • Lauren Seaman says:

How I dig deep to motivate myself : I’ve recently discovered from examining my peak life experiences that three of my biggest personal values are Personal Power, Freedom, and Strength. These things aren’t just physical, but also spiritual and soulful. However, they often manifest during or after physical experiences, as physicality has always been a big part of my life having been a professional athlete in the past. I dig deep by stopping my mind from getting in the way of exercise, from over thinking, from resisting, and from just going for a run, or getting on my yoga mat, or doing circuit training. I ALWAYS feel drastically better afterwards, and it’s truly an act of self-love and self-care. It makes me a better, happier, more energetic yet balanced, peaceful, and therefore successful person. And I believe this kind of energy spreads and inspires/betters others. I want to be a positive force on myself, and on the people around me in my community, wherever I am. :)

  • Kristina Harris says:

My kids and the thought of having all the medical issues my parents and grandparents went through motivates me to stay healthy.

  • Chance Hollingsworth says:

Personally, I dig deep by drawing motivation from two primary areas of influence in my life: (1) being a chubby (fat) kid in adolescence – keeps me honest to where I know I must maintain an active lifestyle or return to those feelings, amplified by adulthood….and (2) exercising and racing/competing in 5k’s, half or full marathons and even adventure-style races in memorial of friends & family lost over the years who (frankly) aren’t around to do it themselves. I can’t tell you how uplifting it is during a taxing race or workout to think of a loved one, and how I should dig deep not just for myself (first), but to honor their impact on my life. There are fewer testaments I’ve found to life than by forcing myself to truly live. There’s that saying that we must live in the PRESENT because the greatest GIFT is the life we are given. Remembering that (often) helps me dig deep and keep one foot ahead of the another, no matter how taxing it can feel.

  • Zainub Hyath says:

I’ve been working out for the last 10 years.. But there isn’t a single workout that pushes me more than Insanity!!! I absolutely love it!! My brother and I have successfully finished the programme three times already (Aiming for many more) & each time we feel ourselves getting fitter. It’s the type of fitness programme that keeps you interested-No other series compares to the level of motivation needed to get through each workout. Through Insanity I’ve learnt that my willpower is definitely stronger than I ever knew possible.. I have learnt to ‘dig deeper’ in every aspect of our lives. Thank you Shaun T for this amazing amazing series!!:)

  • Jessica Barelas says:

I dig deep by staying motivated for my future and how I want my life to be lived.

I took on the Insanity challenge along with other beachbody workouts. I have definitely exprienced some amazing results and change in my life!

I can always make bad choices as far as what I put in my body, what I do with my body, what I think and say. I have to constantly make a choice to dig deep and not think of my faults, shortcomings, or what others may or may not be doing.

I have to pursue my goals at all costs. I am the only one who can care about myself the way that I can. I have to put into action everything that I have learned in fitness, health and life in general.

I dig deep for my future. I want it to be laid out with greatness in all areas of my life. I don’t want to die young because I chose to feed myself junk and had no regard for what they would do to me. I don’t want to leave a legacy for my kids of bad habits whether in my health or how I treat people.

I dig deep for a better me now and for it to last even when I am not longer here.

    DIG DEEP!!!!!

  • Ali Nink says:

I “dig deep” for America. I decided this past year I wanted to serve my country and fellow man. I recently swore in to the United States Army and will be shipped out November 5th to Fort Jackson for basic training. Honestly, I am nervous excited, so excited to be part of something bigger than imagined and doing what I want to do and nervous because it’s the unknown. At the same time that unknown part also makes me more excited. I’ve been running to get my endurance up, but it’s starting to get boring. Ive tried other workout videos and frankly they’ve left me bored just the same. I would love to get the whole set soon to help me get my body in better shape before boot camp. Maybe I can start with this one? Rest assured I am focused on protecting my country. Thanks for reading, Ali.

  • Leslie Ciccanti says:

Insanity is truly the best workout ever! It has taken me far beyond my expectations. A life changing experience. Shaun T is a great trainer and he does keep you very motivated. I often find myself using the “dig Deep” phrase in many areas of my life. I hope they come out with an Insanity 2. Love it!

  • Brett Harwood says:

After going to an audition, and having the director tell me I am too fat for the role … I lost 101 lbs to the day. I went back to audition and landed the role of a lifetime. To dig deep, I always tell myself to stand fearless in the face of adversity and BRING IT every single day! Measure in Love!

  • Dina says:

I just remind myself that I feel better when I exercise regularly and I will *definitely* feel better if I get up and get moving. Right now.

  • Fredia says:

I motivate my self by looking at pictures of myself from about 6 years ago when I was in the military. I was in the best shape. Although I complained the whole time while exercising in the military, I see now why it was important. Looking at my small but growing belly, I think I need a little insanity to get back into shape!

  • Amber says:

Ever since my first time doing Insanity 2 yrs. ago and Asylum, 1 yr. ago, there has not been any other workout that compares to the “Push” that I have to dig down deep inside to finish those workouts! That is my “Dig Deeper”! I continue to alternate between Insanity and Asylum using them as a hybrid with other workouts! I love what Shaun T has done for my fitness level and bringing the whole workout experience to the top!! Keep up the great workouts!

  • Jori says:

I dig deep to keep mentally and physically strong.

  • Zorahgail Balino says:

I dig deep by being Deliberate, Inspired, and Going: being Deliberate and clear on my intentions; getting Inspired to take action; and getting Going by doing one task that moves me forward.

  • Robin says:

I dig deep by remembering why I’m doing it–to stay strong!

  • Ron Gonzales says:

I dig deep by pushing myself to go further beyond what your mind can do

  • Evelyn says:

I’m a mother of 3, 39 years old and work full time an hour away. I get up at 5am. I’m on the second month. i have toned arms and I lost 2 sizes. I was never a Size 6…never! I would love to win Fast & Furious so I can sleep a few more minutes. Thanks Shaun T for a great workout program.

  • I dig deep by looking at my baby. At the age of 40, my wife and I decided to adopt a baby. Now we have three daughters, 14, 11 and 7 months old. When she graduates high school, I will be 58. When she gets married, I will be in my 70′s. I want to be a part of every big moment of her life. To do that, I need to be fit. I have to work hard. I have to push play every day. It doesn’t matter if I am tired. It doesn’t matter if I am on the road. It doesn’t matter how busy I am. It has to be done. 3 months and 40 lbs later, I’m in the best shape since high school and I continue to push play and continue to dig deeper.

  • Jessica Reed says:

My friends at work introduced me to Insanity, but I didn’t stick with the program. I usually give up easily. I’ve tried dozens of OTC diet pills. I’ve starved myself. I’ve binged. After gaining 57 pounds, I knew I had to do something.

I am in the military and my career depends on my physical fitness. A couple weeks ago I was brave enough to step on the scale and what I saw upset me. I immediately purchased Insanity DVDs and after just 10 days I can button a new button on my uniform!

What helps me dig deeper is my future wedding, my career on the line, and I want to be healthy before I get pregnant. The DVDs are awesome to follow. I feel like Shaun T is right in my home, pushing me, coaching me and pushing me that extra step. I won’t lie – the workouts are hard and being new to the program, I have to take breaks.

I have always wanted to feel confident in a bikini and when I complete my 60 day transformation, my reward will be a professional photo shoot in a new bikini! Thank you Shaun T for restoring my confidence.

  • luisdi says:

i dig deep by realizing that its time to take control of my life! ITS ABOUT TIME THAT I BECOME WHAT I WANT! its that simple! if i wasnt happy with the way i looked, its because something had to change! something had to remind me that i can do anything i want to! since day one ive been keeping my mind set to a goal an image of me in a near future! healthy and fit!!! everytime i feel i cant make it i go and look at the mirror and see that im smilling now! that ive come a long way to stop now! that everyday its getting better! and that my life is changing. its just about what you want for yourself! not for anyone else! its just to make your life a better one! and thats what keeps me digging deeper!

  • Eric Hostetler says:

I’m a Systems Engineer for the Navy, and I travel to combat zones in performance of my duties. I dig deeper by remembering not only how much I need to be in shape to perform these duties, but also to be able to keep up with the soldiers I’m supporting.

  • Lauren says:

How do I dig deep? I do it by focusing on where I want to be and knowing that Shaun T will help me get there. I push play every day yes, for myself to get to a healthier weight and state in my life, but more, for my family. As my parents keep getting older and sick I know that I need to keep myself healthy to be there for them and not put myself in danger too since I am an only child. My parents are what makes me dig deeper and Shaun T is who keeps me on track and motivated, knowing that even if I can’t keep up, by making the choice to just be there and do it is helping me get that much closer to a healthy life for me and them!

  • Christi E says:

My fiance’ passed away on March 7, 2012; we were suppose to get married on April 7, 2012… Everyday, sometimes every moment, has been a challenge. There are days that I still find it painful to just breathe… In not knowing how to deal with such a huge loss, I turned to food for comfort and have VERY quickly gained 40 pounds… There was a point several weeks ago that I just didn’t care anymore; I felt that my everything was gone. About 2 weeks ago, I was watching YouTube videos and somehow (they always lead down a rabbit hole!) game across a tranformation video for Insanity. I was amazed but what I saw, but being a very realistic person, I knew that was too extreme for me and where I was physically. So, I continued watching and eventually came across the Hip Hop Abs videos/transformations/reviews. The more that I watched, the more convinced and inspired I became that I could actually do this workout. I ordered the workout, had it shipped overnight and began my journey… I’m still grieving my fiance’s passing but each day is getting better. My digging deep is pulling myself together on those hard days, getting dressed & pressing play. There have been some days that my workout with Shaun T was all that I had to look forward to and the only thing that made me even move! I continue to dig deep, not just for myself, but I know that “Jack” would not be happy about the way I have been existing for the last few months…He would want me to be healthy, happy & enjoying life. He would be very troubled by how all of this has impacted my world… So…Each day…it’s me & you, Shaun T! And I dig a little deeper each time!! Thank you for taking the time to read my story! Christi

  • MacKenzie says:

I dig deep by saying “YES I CAN” to the voice in my head telling me I can’t keep going for another 30 seconds. I know that working my hardest will change my body and my life and has done so thus far. Shaun T has changed my life!

  • Sandy says:

I Dig Deep by exercising when my deepest thoughts are negatively being guided by fear of what if’s, cant’s, won’t happen & mental self battery attempts to take over. I refuse to allow negativity to rule my Life! Only I control my own Power & Destination! Motivation & Happiness comes from within therefore Digging Deeper on a Daily basis is necessary to Live for a Why & What!

  • Raven Perry says:

How do I Dig Deep and get motivation? Prayer! I would have never come as far as I have come if it wasn’t for my wonderful Daddy upstairs. God is the base of all strength and if I think I can’t do it I pray that He gives me the strength and will to continue moving on….I even call out a request to keep me going in the middle of a crazy insanity workout

  • Britney Jones says:

I dig deep because I changed my whole life style and a continually pushing through! At age 21 I realized I was completely unhappy at 5’3 and 164 pounds! I changed my eating habbits and hit the gym by myself 6 days a week and got down to 130! Now at 23 I’m 139 and realized that I want to be in the best shape of my life! So I Purchased INSANITY!!! I even have my boyfriend doing it with me! We are in our first week! Niether of us come from physically fit or healthy families and we have Never Played sports but that doesn’t stop us! We are trying to be living proof that you can turn your lifestyle around, DIG DEEP and become healthier and happier! It’s a continual lifestyle effort. That’s what I’ve learned by digging DEEP!!

  • Justin says:

I dig deep by focusing on the body that I want to see in the mirror. Dig deep and do those last few reps even when you are exhausted.

  • Juan says:

Digging Deep is all mental. You must mentally be prepared to dig deep. I focus all of my attention on the doing versus the excuses. It’s so easy to say ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’, but then you have to think about looking back on yesterday wishing you had. Kepp the yesterdays good days by doing it today!

  • Shawn Schultz says:

I dig deep and push myself to keep up with my daughter who always has a endless amount of energy.

  • Lauren says:

I dig deep by not making excuses! I’m 22 and I had emergency brain surgery back in September 29th, 2011 and it has taught me a lot, not just about my life and my spirituality, but about what I thought were the limitations I thought my body had. A person can go though more than their minds are even capable of knowing. I’ve come to realize in recovery that it is a shame that most people will never truly come to understand what their bodies are capable of. Push through and open your minds to new experiences! I was given a second chance that I really had to fight for and for that I’m thankful for. I get to know and experience something not many people get to have. I go to the gym and take care of my body but I think that Insanity would be a nice change of pace for me. Bless yall and good luck!

  • Emily says:

I look into the eyes of my child and am determined to be a better model for him than I had for myself. I’m inspired to share with him that taking care of your body, being fit, and embracing health is fun! Although my little guy is only 6 we are certainly on the right path to digging deep together.

  • Ashley Howell says:

After having my daughter last year, I was really having trouble getting my eating habits back on track. It is so hard for me to find any time for myself. I was frustrated and exhausted every day. Every Saturday morning for three weeks I would get up with my baby and turn off the tv and see the insanity infomercial. After about a month of seeing it every Saturday, I decided to order it for myself as a birthday present. I’m just starting month 2 and feel better than I have in years. I’m fitting into clothes I haven’t worn in two years and I finally have enough energy to keep up with my daughter who is now 11 months old. It is a challenge to find an hour to myself every day and most of my workout with her trying to climb on me, but every day I get stronger and I dig deeper. It has been the best purchase I’ve made in a long time!

  • Liz Stark says:

I dig deep to motivate myself by remembering how far I have come and how much stronger I am now (and can still become). I have recovered from severe anorexia and continue to manage my Crohn’s Disease, and I do not let challenged get me down. I stay determined, have fun with fitness, and stay positive. This is how I dig deep to motivate myself and be the best that I can be. At 24 years old, I have come far, but will not stop keeping myself fit, healthy, happy, and confident.

  • jay says:

I dig deep by finding something that I REALLY want to wear in a size too small and when I start feeling the burn i imagine myself in those clothes and I keep going!

  • JEROME says:

I WALK NATURE TRAILS TO KEEP IN SHAPE…BUT I WANT A BODY LIKE SHAUN T !

  • Doug Ackmann says:

I’m a digging deep to get into the best shape of my life for my beautiful fiance so that on our wedding day next year I look and feel great for our new lives together.

  • Amy says:

To “dig deep,” I make sure I add variety to my workouts. I want to keep my muscles guessing and to keep finding fun in fitness.

  • Lauren says:

If I don’t truly believe in the reason I am doing something, I find it almost impossible to keep up the routine. When I have a deep understanding of WHY I am working on a particular exercise- have a clear understanding of what muscles I’m using, the processes by which they are strengthened, and the end result (big, beautiful muscles and increased strength)- I am hard-pressed to NOT lift as heavy as I can, or go hard to get results.

I DIG DEEP by INFORMING myself with RELIABLE information from REPUTABLE sources (like Experience Life). I am inspired by the passion of others (read: Shaun T’s workouts) and by the tested knowledge that working hard always generates results. Just like anything in life, there are no shortcuts to sustainable solutions. For some reason that was a hard lesson for me to learn when it came to feeling/looking good.

  • Jim says:

I use a lot of different workout routines but none are higher energy and more motivating than ANYTHING from Shaun T. I coach soccer and am closing in rapidly on age 50. Last fall, I had to admit that I wasn’t keeping up with the kids the way that I expected myself to. My assistant had done Insanity and a few other Beachbody programs and loaned me his set. Instantly hooked. I came back in the spring and now those kids struggle to keep up with me! Going through a workout on DVD with Shaun T feels more like he’s right there in the room with you. You dig deep cuz you feel like he’s actually talking to YOU!

  • EL says:

I dig deep by getting up at 5am to get my workouts done. If I wait until later, life gets in the way.

  • Stacy says:

I “dig deep” to use the correct form during the Insanity workouts. Shaun T emphasizes good form, especially at times when you feel the most tired and really need to push yourself. My favorite line of his is “I’m not trying to hurt you; I’m trying to make you better.” That’s motivational to me. Even my husband likes the Insanity videos!

  • SoBe says:

I have started Insanity about two years ago, I started off good, but as time went by I have done sooooo much better, my push ups are better, my stamina is soo much better… When I am working out with the DVDs (both Insanity and Asylum), and Shaun T says Dig Deeper, I feel that I can give more and more… Its like a motivation phrase.. it takes me to another level.. today i am soo happy about taking up this program that I look forward to my exercises every day and so far it has been going great…… He is a great motivator.. and his exercise program gives you the confidence in yourself and every time you can DIG DEEPER:)

  • Javier C. says:

I have been working out for about 6 years but my fitness program has become very repetitive. I will try Shaun T’s recommened workout and will post the progress. Thanks for sharing this program and encouraging speaker.

  • Phil says:

Before I train, I take a quite movement to look inside. I have a mantra of sorts that I use…”Train Hard!” that helps me. I also ask the Divine for strength as well.

  • Greg Moore says:

I dig deeper every day because the will have to be dedicated is from my toddler son, I was 300 lbs when he was born, so i would only eat bc it felt right, Shaun T. Help me out a lot with insanity and now I am able to play with my little boy, I’m at 270 not and about to start rd 2 of insanity, its not about the free giveaway for to me for the reason of this comment but a free giveaway to more years I have added on to to my life from losing the weight not to mention a more healthier and active life for me! Only 23 but I feel my age now and it feels great, so thank you Shaun T. And thank you Beachbody for allowing this workout to help people feel the best they have felt in a very long time!

  • Pam says:

I love digging deep with Shaun T. He motivates me to digg deep and just do it! Six days a week I turn on my DVD player, get moving and sweat until I’m dripping wet. The payoff? The payoff is feeling those new muscles and knowing that I am getting stronger every day. Oh yeah — and of course, the weight loss and the fact that my clothes look so good on me now. My friends think I am insane — and I am — INSANE for INSANITY!

  • Kim says:

It’s like what Shaun T says – I do what I can do, and then a little more … every day. And I apply this to all areas of my life. You can’t be afraid to succeed, you have to defeat that fear and then you can succeed!

  • Deepak says:

Dig deep is the experience which can be feeled not described

  • Maria Tschaar says:

I have finally realized that digging deep means to change an entire life style, and that was hard!! I came to a point in my life where I wanted to feel good all the time, not just after a long work out. Shaun T. inspired me, by teaching me to look at my whole person, and find what works for me. I changed my eating habits, my attitude, and began my workouts where I was comfortable. Little by little I saw results with Insanity and began to feel better, and that was enough for me to continue, each day pushing a little bit harder than the day before. There were days when I really struggled with my motivation, but I realized that Shaun T. didn’t get fit overnight, it is a very long process.
I have done Insanity twice now, and continue to do these workouts in conjunction with weightlifting. I have never felt better, and looked better. When people ask me (and they always do) how I became so “fit”, I tell them Insanity and Shaun T. It is his genuine interest in the fitness of others, that has helped me to Dig Deep!

  • Peggi Rodriguez says:

I have already a year of training with Insanity and actually doing what I enjoy as if for the first time! Wooow the Asylum Insanity is the amazing and the hybrid program is absolutely the best of the best! Shaun T thank you very much for motivating me every day to reach my goal!! and I always say: DIG DEEPER!!!! I CAN DO IT!!!!!

  • Tammy says:

I was approx. 100 pounds over weight and 44 years old. A friend told me about Insanity and I tried it without knowing what I was getting into. After the first session I was exhausted and not even able to complete it. My friend convienced me to dig deep and try the program. So I did, and honestly can say it has changed my life. I don’t get winded just walking from the car to a building; my mental health has also improved. The fact that it only takes 40-55 minutes per day depending on the workout is amazing and a huge benefit. I’m actually developing defintion in my arms and I would never have thought it possible without working with weights. Shaun T. has made getting fit possible for anyone as it takes only a TV, DVD player and the will to do it. He seems to be looking at me during each workout, because about the time I’m thinking I can’t do anymore, he says you’re almost there…just 10 or 7 seconds more. I have recommended him to several people!

  • Brittany says:

Whenever I’m doing an Insanity workout and I feel like I’m going to give up, Shaun T keeps me motivated. I’ve been able to dig deep, past the self-doubt and the words “I can’t” when they enter my mind by thinking about where I was only 2 years ago. In 2010, I was 16 and over 200 pounds. I realized that this was not the person I wanted to be, so I decided to make a change. I started eating healthier and pushing myself harder in my workouts every step along my journey, and eventually started doing Insanity. Now, after 2 years, 3 rounds of Insanity, and almost 90 pounds lost, I truly feel the impact of my accomplishments of allowing myself to dig deep. I have so much more confidence in myself, and am a much happier person. All I can say is thank you, Shaun T!

  • Heather says:

Shaun T motivates me to dig deep everyday because the stronger I am the better I feel!

  • I have been diggin’ deep since January starting with 10-Minute trainer after have two beautiful children and made my way to The Slim-in-6 Series and LOVE them but my booty is half way gone and I need someone “insane” to burn the rest of that extra weight off and reveal the true me who for the 1st time has an outside that matches my inside :) I can’t say enough about the wonderful things you have done for others so do it for me Shaun T! I am a new coach and need to have that “umph” you are so good at giving!

  • Debi says:

“DIG DEEP” has become my motto in life, always look to give it all i’ve got ..especially in situations where i feel overwhelmed! Thanks Shaun T. You are proof that you never know what you are capable of until you dojust that..Dig deep you all!!

  • Cheryl Reeder says:

I dig deeper everyday by pressing play 6 days a week! I love Shaun T and his Insanity workout has shown me that I’m stronger physically and mentally than I thought I was. I looked at the program when it first came out, did the fit test and decided it was too hard to even try. Flash forward to now, and I’m on day 43 with only 17 workouts left! I WILL HAVE MY INSANITY WORKOUT!This 2nd month has been extra challenging, but I’m holding my own and pressing through. I will most definitely do another round and maybe add Asylum after that! Now, I understand exactly what Shaun meant when he said “The workout doesn’t start until you’re tired!” That warm-up is a workout in itself! DIG DEEP!!

  • Danny says:

I have become addicted to the feeling I get when I finish an Insanity workout, I feel it throughout my entire workday. Digging deeper, to me, has meant finding that hidden energy to complete the workout and get right back into it when my muscles are burning. It’s the hardest I’ve ever challenged myself physically, and I love it.

  • kate says:

I dig deep by pushing myself everyday to be the best person I can be. I continue to face my fears and go beyond my limits and I never quit.

  • Torski says:

Digging deeper has become a personal and professional mantra for myself in all areas of my life. I feel that if you aren’t digging deeper, then I am not striving to be the best me in everything, as a mom, as a wife, as an entrepreneur. Since completing INSANITY the first time, I feel invincible and that I can do whatever I put my mind to, just like I did in completing INSANITY for the first time. It’s addictive and contagious and in the words of Shaun T, “I Love IT!”

  • Aleta says:

I dig deep by staying focused on my goal. Shuan T and Insanity have brought me closer than I have ever been to being happy with my body. As long as I continue to dig deeper I know that I will get to that goal in no time at all. “I’m not trying to kill you, I only want to make you stronger” – Shaun T

  • Nicole says:

I started the Insanity workout two weeks ago with a group of 7 people we are down to 3. But each day it has gotten a little easier and truly the phrase “dig deeper” is what I have to do. There are days when we do it together but there are other days when we are on our own and those are the days when it could be easy to say no, not today and fall back into my old habits. In the back of my head I hear Shaun T saying dig deeper and it makes me want to do better. I’m excited about this new journey and look forward to seeing the results of my hard work.

    Thanks Shawn T!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Megan says:

I dig deep six days a week with Shaun T! I’m currently in my second month of Insanity and I love it! I can’t believe it took me so long to find it. Even though I’m not losing a bunch of weight yet or losing a ton of inches around my waist, I’m seeing small changes in the mirror so far. But even more than that I feel more confident knowing that I can make it through these insane workouts!

  • Christina Martin says:

The first time I tried Insanity I thought I was going to die, throw up or pass out. Insanity takes you to a very uncomfortable place, one that makes you rethink how fit you considered yourself. The rush from pushing yourself is thrilling and a little scary at first. Once you start doing the workouts you get to a point where you are no longer just getting through the workout alive, you actually start to say to yourself, “I could go a bit faster, jump higher, squat lower” each time you hear Shaun T say Dig Deeper, you push just a bit more. Once I started Asylum, it was like I was starting all over again-make it through the workout alive, then start to get better-the beauty of these workouts is you can always jump higher, go faster do better, dig deeper-so you don’t ever outgrow it. It helps me in my day to day life too, because if I am feeling like I don’t want to clean the house or do the dishes, I just think “Insanity/Asylum is way harder then this, so I just got to do it” Whenever I am doing anything that’s tough, I hear Shaun T in my head “dig deeper, come on you can do it”

  • Maysheng says:

Being a stay at home mom of 4, I always used having little ones as an excuse of not being able to get out to the gym. Then, I saw Insanity, and I was never sure about a home workout program, but with day one of Insanity, I was hooked! Besides being able to do it at home, the best part is I do not need any equipment! I just finished my first 60 days of Insanity and have lost 11 lbs! Insanity has given me so much more confidence and energy. Shaun T is awesome!

  • Jen P says:

I dig deep with the Beach Body programs, and I am trying to work my way up to Insanity! First I started with Hip Hop Abs, then Turbo Jam, now Turbo Fire and Insanity is next. Digging deep to get healthy, beat PCOS-related infertility, and have the family (uh, and BODY!) I’ve always dreamed of.

  • Markil says:

I just started the Insanity for the 3rd time since November 2011 and have yet to complete an entire 60 day cycle!! I usually start seeing results too soon and slow down my effort. My neighbor is doing it with me this time and we encouraging each other stay motivated and I’m digging deeper than before. I’ve been riding my bike to work for the last few months, even in the rain!! I pump two hills on my way home. Shaun T’s voice is always in my head making me push. I can only imagine how much HOTTER I’m going to be by the middle of July I’m gonna walk around with my shirt off…

  • brandon foy says:

I can’t wait to start up Insanity again!

  • Bill says:

Digging deep within myself is something I’m still trying conquer. Shaun T’s demonstrations of himself pushing limits along with his motivation has definitely made myself push further beyond what I thought I could do. In doing things I hadn’t fathomed possible, I’ve eliminated doubt in my abilities and thrive for a better me. In some sense, with Shaun T’s motivation, I’ve become my own role model – having seen what I’ve done and where I stand today, I’m beginning to learn limitations are merely self imposed and perceived, and I continue to surprise myself. Anything is possible given hard work and dedication, all I must do and continue to do, is dig deep within myself and stay focused.

  • Sydney Roberts says:

As an African American woman, I feel it’s important that I DIG DEEPER as often as I can. I need to be a good example to my sons, my sisters and my sister friends. I try to motivate others by my enthusiasm and drive to continue exercising, getting fit and getting/being in shape! We as women often make everything & everyone else a priority and put ourselves last on the list or as time permits. I stopped doing that in January 2011 and vowed to get healthy and fit by my 50th birthday! Too many loved ones were dying or getting sick around me and I didn’t want to be one of them. I want to be here when my kids become men with their own families. My health and happiness is just as important as those around me and if I’m sick I’m of no use to my family. And I guess it’s my family that helps me DIG DEEPER and press play at 4 a.m., run on my lunch break and Zumba in the evening. I matter!

  • Nykea Ellison says:

I am a 35yr old widowed, mother of 4 girls. They motivate me to dig deeper everyday. I need to get healthy because I need to be here for them. My daughter does insanity with me and motivates me. She yells hold the core tight. Come on mom you can do it. When Shaun T says come on 20 more seconds. I tell my daughter “Come on We can do anything for 20 seconds!!” I feel better about myself and my stamina is better. I can see results and this helps me to dig deeper and to keep pushing play everyday!! Thank you Shaun T I couldn’t have done it without you. I’m starting my 2nd month of insanity and will always “Dig Deep!!

  • Jan says:

I dig deep by pushing myself as hard as possible and trying to stay motivated. Looking at myself and feeling great or feeling that I need to lose a few pounds is all the motivation I need. Working hard always pays off in the end!

  • I have had the pleasure of working out Live and getting STRIDE Certified by the AMAZING SHAUN T!! THE BEST TRAINER AND MY FITNESS IDOL! I dig deep in all aspects of life because “I Define Me!” After going through a hurtful and painful divorce last year I had gained over 30 pounds of what I like to call comfort food. I found myself over eating until I felt like vomiting not because I was hungry but because I was trying to fill an emptiness inside my heart. So one day I stoppped feeling sorry for myself and I decided to take the Insanity and Asylum challenge, from there I became a Beach Body Coach! This was my way of rewarding myself on a job well done and motivating others that you come first, my motto is LIVE FOR YOU!!! I have the utmost respect for a man who can give all of himself every day to each and every one of us and yet still stay so humble..I adore ShaunT!!

  • Leo D says:

Thanks Shaun. You changed my life about 3 years ago. I have now completed the Insanity challenge 4 times and have never felt this accomplished in my life. 3 years ago I was crushed by a divorce I never saw coming and rather than crumble in my own misery, I ordered your dvd and put all my energy and focus on this accomplishment. I am now a better father, human being, and employee. I feel great, I look even better, and my 2 daughters are proud. DIG DEEP are words that I live by. Cheers

  • Charlie says:

I never thought about getting a body transformation until a friend showed me a couple of videos of Shaun T’s Insanity. I was skeptical at first but throughout the workout I knew I needed a real change. For me to get a real transformation I’ll keep pushing harder and harder so I can achieve my goal. That’s why whenever I put Insanity videos on, I knew I had to keep digging deeper for a great body like Shaun T’s.

  • Chris Tripp says:

I have been ‘digging deep’ since March ’11. Thanks Shaun T for the weight loss and motivation to Dig Deep through everything in life!!

  • Rob Brown says:

there’s definitely something to be said about keeping a schedule, especially when you have children! and, sometimes, a schedule may not be enough. that day in, day out grind of stress is sometimes enough to bring even the giants down. at this point, the sheer motivation to better yourself with the help of images and music, or the confidence boost from your family and peers may be all that’s left to help you ‘push through’. i look to icons like dwayne ‘the rock’ johnson, bill goldberg and, of course, shaun T to find a platform to reach. i have nothing but real aspirations and high expectations for myself, and there’s no way i’d let “what’s good” pass me by! but just like anyone else, i do need a swift kick in the hind parts from time to time!!!

  • Jennifer Kunsak says:

About 5 yrs ago I came down with a rare illness with no known cause or cure (Interstistal Cystitis)it dramatically changed mine and my families lives. I am a mother of 3 and am now 40 with a loving and supportive family that helps me to “dig deep” and stay positive. I’m short 5’1 and used to be petite but literally became twice the woman my husband fell in love with 11 yrs ago due to the daily pain and inactivity of illness. I wanted to take control of what I could and at least get more active. I had seen the infomercials with Shaun T so I decided to get Hip Hop Abs since I’ve always loved to dance. My best friend and I started slow “digging deep” and encouraging each other with the help of my son from the other room yelling that we could do it. Almost 2 months now and I am feeling so great, losing weight and inches. Shaun T says to dig deep and motivates daily..he makes us laugh and curse..but so much fun. I can’t control having this illness but I can do my best to try daily to Dig Deep and be healthier it the ways I can control. Love Shaun T with his little smiles and Positive attitude that helps to keep me going and with my friends and families support I can continue to overcome and keep digging to be a better and healthier me.

  • Wendy says:

I dig deep because ii finally told my self to just do it ! No more just saying i will workout and not doing it. I hated i would say this and not do anything about it ! I have to beautiful kids and husdand i want to be healthy for and i want to feel happy with me.i always had my parents and family call me fat and i know i as never fat but having family members say that u believe it !!! But this time i have committed and i am showing them all that i have always been healthy and never been overweight and most if all for myslelf that i can be a way better me !!!! Love Shaun T super motivator and he keeps me digging no matter how i feel !! U are my mentor and u just keep me going !!! Xo

  • Jillian says:

“Dig Deep” is my mantra in my journey to become a healthier me. In my daily workouts with Shaun T. I find his positive motivation and energy to be just what I need to keep going… and whenever that voice in the back of my mind tells me I can’t I stop it in it’s tracks and tell myself to Dig Deeper! You have to work hard to see change. My way to dig deep and stay on track in my personal fitness journey is by sharing it with others through my personal blog. I keep a public workout log and share the difficult times as well as the successes I have through my blog posts. It keeps me accountable, motivated and digging deep everyday. People around me tell me it’s a motivation to them as well.

  • Malcolm S. says:

to Dig deep means to press forward even if the odds seem insurmountable. When I’d began Insanity from beachbody on March 28,2011 I weighed 365lbs, whenever I’d work out my body would ache, I’d grow weary and often I could go for like 15-20 minutes, BUT I never gave up. After doing the program for two months I’d fallen in love with the workout because it helped me to relieve stress that I’d accumulated from college courses and personal battles, I’d developed more stamina, my sleep was ten times better and most importantly weight loss had arrived..here I am a yr later at 305lbscand losing and I feel blessed because after neglecting the most important person in my life, myself I’m improving my temple, and I’ve learned that with desire come discipline. If a person desires earthly riches or success then they work towards it by earning a degree or hard work so necessarily so if you desire weight loss then you must work hard and Insanity is the way to go and if your mind is set you can do it if I completed the routine at almost 400lbs then anyone can do it…LETS GET INSANE FOR A BETTER YOU EVERYONE

  • angela d. says:

I am a marine wife and mom to 2 daughters. What helps me to dig deeper is knowing my husband digs deeper for this country and our daughters need both parents being role models so they arent quick to give up as they grow and as we both dig deeper in our marriage, parenting, and life goals that will sow greatness into them and their future:)

  • Angela says:

I have 50 pounds to lose as well as 50 excuses. I have done the Hip Hop Abs in the past and love, love, love Shaun T!!! What an awesome guy and inspiration! Would be so excited to “Dig Deep” and lose the excuses and the pounds with Shaun T as my guide!

  • Fernando Campos says:

‘Dig deep’ is not only a motivational phrase, is a Life Style… and also really catchy :p

  • Ann says:

“Dig Deeper” is a great term that we now use in our family often after completing “Insanity.” It does extend to all aspects of my life-from working long, challenging hours as a physician to being a good spouse, daughter, sister, friend, and community member. I had never heard of Experience Life until someone showed it to me because it had Shaun T on the cover. I am so impressed that I am subscribing. And, it fits with the theme of “dig deeper”- pushing readers to go where they have not been before to improve health both in mind, body and spirit.

  • Joel says:

I dig deep when i feel drained, both physically amd emotionally. “Dig Deep” means look past the pain and forward to the results. I always feel 100% better after an insanity workout, confident and ready to “DIG DEEP” the rest of the day no matter what happens.

  • Reid says:

Always pushing out of my comfort zone and doing crazy things keeps me digging deep. Just completed my first Tough Mudder yesterday, something I never thought I would try. It turned out to be one of the best and most challenging times of my life. Before training for the mudder I had never ran more than 3 miles straight, I thought it was boring and just TOO HARD. But that little voice inside my head kept me going and paid off for the mudder. Myself along with a group of 50 set out and conquered this 25 obstacle 12 mile paradise with blood, sweat and beers. I ended up completing it with the fastest group and I felt great. Dig deep and do things you don’t think you can. You will be amazed what your mind and body can do!!

  • Pam says:

I lovvvvvvvveeeeeeee shaun T he kicks my butt each morning and am smiling cause I love it !! I start the day as i mean to go on with a smile on my face as once I have done my daily workouts I am ready to take on anything and anyone, it just puts me in such a good mood I would like to thank shaun T for coming in to my life and making me the best person I could ever be !! xx

  • Mark Kapcala says:

I just completed Insanity a few days ago, and am in the best shape of my life! My motivation is my family. Heart disease has struck the older men in my family and I am determined to not let it get me. My 3 year is just as committed to exercise as I am, he wakes me up each morning saying “it’s time for exercises!”. He follows the videos as we did Insanity, and he has not only all the moves memorized, he can recite almost word for word Shaunt T! He is my motivation for digging deep, and keeps me going strong!

  • Jaibi says:

I owe so much to Shaun, for one, I can relate to him a lot! I don’t know why but I feel if I had an elder brother he’d be like Shaun. I’ve learnt to use ‘dig deep’ and Shaun’s famous ‘Come on ya’alll… LET’S GOOOOO!’ to not only kick my high gear in exercise but also everything else from tests to beating procrastination! Thanks so much Shaun, your training taught me to be not only physically but mentally fit too.

    Much love and respect,
    JB.

  • Oum Hamza says:

After having 4 kids and abandonning myself to sacrifice all my time for my family, time has come to become a little selfish and try and make everything to rebuild my self-estime and feeling usefull in other areas than family.

I love fitness & nutrition and I read anything I can about it and try to share everything I learn on my blog. I just finished my 3rd week of Insanity and can’t do without it now. I’m addicted to the effort, sweat and muscle soring. I dig deep and push hard as much as I can, each workout, waking up at 5 am every training day, not skipping any day, sticking to the diet.

I enjoyed it so much that I enrolled for a personnal trainer certification.

Can’t be thankfull enough to ShaunT and the Beachbody team for being so motivating and for all efforts they put into providing us with such amazing programs.

  • Pamela says:

Recovering from a spinal cord injury has taught me more about “digging deep” than I could have ever imagined. It takes so much determination and tenacity to make the journey back. There are silver linings in all life challenges and seeing them as blessings keeps me motivated. Knowing I don’t have the luxury of negative thinking also keeps me on track. I have been blessed and continue making progress towards recovery and good health every day. Thanks Shaun, you have had such an impacted on my life by your example. You are truly and inspiration.

  • Mariam Q says:

My husband and I were looking to get healthier and cleanse physically. We were not looking to just lose weight and tone, but we needed something to help us quit a bad habit, smoking. We ordered Insanity and threw out our cigarette packs, and then we received the DVDs after 5 days. We were both scared, just watching the commercials scared us, but we wanted to get healthy and look good in the process. We are at the end of our first month and let’s say that we dig deep. We are both motivating each other, eating healthier an hearing Shaun T motivating us on the DVDs keeps us going. We have not had any nicotine cravings of any sort since we have started insanity and everyone tells us we’ve never looked better.
So listen to Shaun T and dig deep. We did and we saw a difference. We loved it and so will you. It’s a challenge but soooooo worth it.

  • Christopher Stelly says:

Digging deep means up at 4:30 am. Pushing hard. No matter what. Digging deep means working out no matter how tired, how burnt, how sore you are.

  • Jeff Webster says:

I need to lose 60 lbs. That’s my motivation and this workout is my tool. Bring it on!

  • Marcia says:

I dig deep by wanting to live a healthy happy life and part of that is keeping your body in excellent physical condition. It is so easy to lag when my life gets busy- which is most of the time. My brother just had a heart attack which even furthered my quest for living healthy.

  • Allison says:

I’m a mom of two toddlers and I Dig Deep every day because of them! Insanity gives me strength to get through my day!

  • Russell Sapp says:

I am a 45 year old male here in beautiful GA. I am doing Insanity, 20 days in, but the diet we are not following exactly, see my boyfriend and I are vegans and we consume nothing processed. Through diet and healthy food choices we are healthier than ever. I am off blood pressure medicine and acid reflux medicine and my boyfriend is off of his diabetes medicine. So the DVD would be greatly appreciated and get plenty of use.

  • ThatMarilyn says:

Let me be honest. I am no spring chicken, and after not working out for 7 years, for various reasons/excuses, I was invited to try Insanity with a few co-workers. Sure. I’ll try almost anything once. A former athlete, ‘ I know dig deep”, or so I thought. First time I had to go outside to keep from hurlin. No weighted squats walks, no steps, no medicine ball, no Xybex, just me and a few other folks facing the big flat screen in the cafe at work using the positive energy in the room to keep in step. I’ve got a long way to go but I know what my body loves…that best feeling through my whole body and mind after I allow myself to ‘dig deep”, The group has fizzled to 2 on most days with an occasional visitor. I might just need to do this on my own ’cause who wants to feel bad?

  • Trevor Hissong says:

I think about the 70lbs I’ve lost already and the 40 more I ant to lose! Plus, when next semester starts, I want to be looking good for the college girls haha. DIG DEEP!

  • Brittney Yates says:

I DIG DEEP BY TELL MYSELF ONLY A FEW MORE SECONDS TO GO..OR MAKE IT TILL THE END OF THIS INTERVAL! I LOVE SHAUN THOMPSONS OUT LOOK ON FITNESS!I HAVE DONE INSANITY TWICE…TRIED HIP HOP ABS ( WANT TO BUY IT) AND I AM NOW DOING ASSYLUM. I LOVE TELLING MYSELF JUST TO PUSH AS HARD AS I CAN AND SHAUN T. HAS TAUGHT ME NOT TO GIVE UP SO EASILY WHEN IT STARTS GETTING TOUGH…HE HAS HELPED ME MORE THAN ANYONE WILL KNOW! THANK YOU SHAUN T. FOR TEACHING US HOW TO DIG DEEP AND FIND OUR INNER BEAST :)

  • Karen Curry says:

I finally dug deep in my pocket book to purchase this program. I have been in denial quite some time about not being overweight. I used to be the most in shape person I knew and now I’m mostly blubber. I received the package this evening and will be starting today after work.

I realized that I am nervous to lose weight. I don’t know if I will like how I will look, or if I will look too good. I know it doesn’t make sense, but I had modeled for Sears, played volleyball, ran track, and the only thing I really do now is figure skate (very challenging because of my weight). I am sick of feeling the way I do. My doctor even told me I needed to figure something out and get started on a weight loss journey. That’s when you know you hit fat hell.

  • amie says:

I am finishing up Insanity- I have two more weeks to go. Then it will be off to Asylum. (I swore I wouldn’t be able to do it, but dammit! I will!) I dig deep from the start to the end. If I am not red in the face, dripping sweat and scaring my family just a little bit, I didn’t work hard enough.

  • James Wendte says:

We love doing Insanity workouts in our fit club in Escondido, Ca. The people at the gym have really loved your workouts Shaun T., it is awesome how you motivat people to dig deep and not sacrifice form. I enjoyed when you came to San Diego this year and I got to work out in your class. Can’t wait to see you in las vegas next month at Summit. I even saw you on TV a couple of weeks ago on a comedy show. You really get around to motivate the masses. Thank you Shaun T.

  • Eric Mitchell says:

I finished Insanity yesterday and I couldn’t feel any better, not because the changes my body made and don’t get me wrong I love the results but its the better man it made me become. I became a better husband, father and friend. I have really adopted the dig deeper mentality for my every day life. I had Man breast)ever since grade school. I just remember pool class like its was yesterday and all the nasty things the teachers and students use to say about me and I will just cry. My Gym teacher use to run basketball games during gym class and I really use to hate it because it was shirts against SKINS! and he use to always put me on the skins just so they can laugh as I ran up and down that court. I new its was enough when I took a kitchen knife and attempted to cut them off and my mother stopped me. And told me one day if I worked hard enough I will be the strongest guy in the world. Maybe that was a little overboard, but that was just the love from mother to son. Shawn pushes you to the max but he also loves helping people to the max as well. I know this new 20min workout is going to be awesome and cant wait until I see if I won a copy. Thanks Shawn T-

  • Cathy says:

I use the term “dig deep” to kick my butt into 2nd gear. I do Insanity workouts at 5:30 a.m. and I HAVE to dig deep to finish. I’m a 48 year old mother of 3 and he makes my day!

  • Nicole Glen says:

I reluctantly bought insanity because I wanted a better me and what did I have to lose other the the extra weight hanging around, but after doing the workouts and being close to finished Dig Deep is what motivates me to get that last re,p to push that last second, and to go until my body fails me. Dig Deep is why I now have the body I have always wanted and is what motivates me to keep going and striving for better than the last workout.

  • Alexx says:

Every day before I start my workout I look at myself in the mirror. I tell myself “this I not the body I want for myself”.. I don’t feel good about the way I look. I am too embarras to take off my shirt in front of others. I need to change my body. I need to change my life. I need to Dig Deep.

  • Jessica says:

I use the phrase “dig deep” for my own fitness adventures and when I coach sports, so it was cool to read this article and identify with this message. It’s about mentally pushing yourself just a little bit more, being comfortable with being a little more uncomfortable. I’ve never seen the insanity workouts (outside of the informercials) but it would be cool to win one! :)

  • I have the same reasons as anyone else here: I want to look good, live longer, I have kids, I have a intense desire to see where my body can go… I can go on and on. The main push for me, aside from all those other reasons, is I have hypothyroidism. That forces me to dig deeper everyday no matter how I feel, or where I’m at. It takes an insane amount of effort to get weight off of a person with a wonky thyroid. Not only do you have to watch what your eat, but you HAVE to push yourself if you really want to see change. After trying several different exercise routines, programs, and meal plans I found that Insanity gets the job done! For someone with an “unseen” medical condition it gave me the right amount of balance to finally see the weight and inches decrease. Having something work, still remain a challenge even after two rounds is a rarity. I cannot lose focus, or give up, and that’s why I dig deeper!

  • Andrea says:

Love, love the insanity workout! After trying so many different workouts I have
To say insanity is the one which worked and still works for me!
Is it hard! Darn yeah but if it wouldn’t be it wouldn’t be a workout! Thanks Shaun for changing my body and my life’s attitude!:)

  • Amanda Lyles says:

I started Insanity 4 weeks ago with the goal to just say, “Yeah, I tried that one time.” Well, not only have I tried it but I LOVE it. I love that the workouts don’t involve any kind of equipment or ridiculous body positions. I also like that he doesn’t make me feel like a complete failure if I have to stop during a workout. The best part of the whole workout program is that even Shaun T himself has to stop. It makes it appear more “doable” and pushes me to go a little farther. After 4 weeks I have lost 5 lbs and 4 inches in my waist and hips as well as 2 inches in my arms and thighs. Besides the changes to my body, Shaun T and Insanity has restored my confidence. I dig deeper every single day in my workouts and in my personal life because now I know I can and I know I am worth it!

  • Anthony V, NY says:

I “Dig Deep” by thinking of the great shape I will be in and how much better I feel. Dig Deeper!!!

  • Scott G says:

Insanity has allowed me to dig deeper each day. Doing the program got me in better shape so that I look and feel as good as I have in years. Just the feeling when taking a deep breath is more fulfilling after doing Insanity. That feeling keeps me digging deep so that I can experience life as never before. THANKS Shaun T!

  • Aaron says:

I “dig deep” everyday by pushing myself to the limit. The limit inside that I didn’t realize I had until I reached deep within myself and discovered another level.

  • Erica Pearce says:

I borrowed a copy of Insanity from a friend & only started it b/c I felt bad for borrowing it & not using it :) On the first day, the fit test, I was scared for Day2! If I was sweating on Day1 I didn’t want to know what Day 2 was gonna be like! LOL! But I kept going & within the first wk I started noticing a difference in my body. I started eating better, feeling better & my attitude started changing, for the better! I’ve had a couple tough days since I started, but Im going to finish out this program…& then do it again!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!! :D

  • The workouts, are outstanding Shaun puts the Work in the word Workout, very focused, intensed, energy, thats what you are looking for, from a workout.

  • Kendall Fontenot says:

Sometimes while doing the Insanity workouts, my daughter will walk into the room and say, “Good job, daddy,” or my four year old son will tell me, “Daddy, I wanna essercise too.” Those two kids are the greatest motivations in my life and make me dig deeper every day. I excerise so that they’ll have a daddy around for a longer time than if I sat around all day and let obesity kill me.

Shaun T. is a great motivator and I owe him a lot, but my kids are the most powerful motivators I know.

  • Ramon Pillier says:

I dig deep because there is no other way of life. By digging deep I see I have more energy and I feel better physically and .

  • angela maclean says:

My kids are my motivation. I want them to grow up being strong healthy individuals. Everyday I wake up and don’t feel like working out I look at them. They keep me going everyday!

  • Michael Giglia, D.C. says:

I Dig deeper by thinking about My ride to the hospital in the ambulance after my third heart attack, My kids, and My wife.

  • Crystal says:

Ahh!! What can I say Shaun T is not only super hot but very inspiring he keeps you going I’ve been doing Insanity for a while now and it’s changed me completely. I remember the first time I tryed Insanity I was like what am I doing this is intense i can’t but Shaun keeps you motivated and makes you just wana keep pushing for more. I’m so proud of myself and it’s all thanks to Shaun and Insanity.

  • Julie Vergara says:

Shaun T took me to a different new level of my physical fitness and attitude towards my everyday life. I have never found myself working as hard as I do because now I realized I can. I can take my body to the next level if I put my mind to it. Last year I twisted my left knee while running, and I was planning to sign up for a half marathon. Long story short, after that incident I could not even put in more than 2 miles. I had ortho specialist look into it, mri, xrays, etc could not determine what had happened. They recommended injections and or arthroscopic surgery. I got scared! Being a nurse, I didn’t want anyone manipulating my knee if first of all they could not really determine what was wrong. I accepted the fact that I probably could not run farther, so I didn’t push myself. Then my husband and I found Insanity through a co worker of mine. Tried it and fell in love with it. After doing p90x, we chose Insanity better because it took us to a whole new level where we have never been before. We finished one round of Insanity, one round of hybrid insanity and p90x, and now we are doing Asylum. In that course of time, I woyld put in about 2 to 3 miles of running once every week or every other week. I felt my legs and everything else getting stronger, I feel that I can take on the world. Yesterday I ran, and it took me to a place so familiar like I was flying. I ran 7.80 miles. An accomplishment. I was so proud of myself. I really do believe that anything is possible if we put our mind and hearts to it. I thank Shaun for the encouragement everyday I push play. And is still pushing play. Now it’s time for Vertical Plyo. Dig deep!

  • Christine says:

I dig deep every day by giving up the excuses! Instead of saying “I can’t” I dig deep and try! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  • Cindy Terrones says:

How do I “dig deep” to motivate myself…. The main thing is do your best and each day try to do a little more. I’m working out and want to stop but in my mind I just keep thinking no, no keep going! I can do this!! My motivation is looking good after having 3 kids! I want to be the active healthy mommy!!!!

  • Jessie S says:

I dig deep by thinking about everyone that I love and how I want to be healthy and powerful within myself to be here… for a while. I want to feel light when I move and happy when I wake.

  • Jerry says:

    I talk to myself:

Not its power can a river cut through a rock,
    but ITS PERSISTENCE!

  • Mary Gibbs says:

I love Shaun T!!! I used to do his workout Hip Hop Abs! I didn’t have a scale at the time so I don’t know how much weight I lost but I had alot of people notice and ask me what I was doing! The way I “dig deep” is by reading inspiring articles on how to lose weight, or look at pictures of people who have transformed their bodies!

  • Jesse Leverett says:

Digging deeper to motivate myself?.. well its kinda hard to explain, but i have been pushing my self to limits to try and get ready for joining the Air Force… i’ve had this dream of becoming a Pararescueman (PJ for short) ever since the beginning of highschool (im a junior now, going on to be a senior, so i have about another year left before i ship off), so i have been pushing my self to try and prepare my self for the high demands of this elite special force in a short amount of time…These include a series of intense exercises, intense running, and intense swimming so i look for anything to truly help me out in the next extreme. Its a different sense to the meaning of digging deeper because i “need” to push myself in every aspect to achieve my dream, this is my meaning to “dig deep”

    • Jessica says:

I dig deep by pushing through fear and self-doubt. I am recovering from back surgery after a bouldering fall and I have been afraid to move my body again for fear of reinjury. The irony is, after a proper period of rehabilitation and PT, not moving my body will actually set me up for future injury. Shaun T. is my daily companion; I had done 2 rounds of insanity before my injury and now I am slowly getting back into it. I can’t go as fast as he can, and I modify everything involving jumping or significant low back impact, but that’s okay. I am doing what I can, and getting back in it. When fear bubbles up, as it always does, I find that place deep in myself that connects with the heart of what Shaun T is saying, and I am able to push through. I hear the fear, and acknowledge it, and then keep getting after it…
