This morning I made this green smoothie inspired by Kris Carr’s Aztec Spirit smoothie recipe. It was awesome!
Kale & Coffee Smoothie
- 5 Brazil nuts
- 2 tbs. chia seeds
- 2 1/2 cups kale (stems and all)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 half packet of Starbucks Via (you could use any powdered coffee)
- A pinch of cayenne
- Approximately 2 1/2 cups water
Blend in a high-speed blender until smooth. Drink. Enjoy!

I love your inspiration! Having a culinary training background… I have to not only try this, but mix it up somewhat… Here are my thoughts to really give this drink a beauty boost!
Swap out the cocoa for cacao nibs
Soak your brazil nuts for 2 hrs prior to using for better digestions
Organic vanilla powder is great
Never mention Starbucks… ;D I will be attempting this>>using my spice grinder>1/4 cup Organic NutriCafe Vienna Roast Arabica Beans>3Cardamom pods>1 tsp cacao nibs ground fine like for Turkish coffee > YUM I will be using 1 full rounded tsp of this mixture and saving the rest for another smoothie or my next cup of turkish coffee.
However, one could also use 3-5 whole organic beans of their choice if using a vita mix… this machine will incorporate the whole bean and eliminate the unhealthy benefits of a product such as Via ugh! 😉
I will be soaking 1tbsp of chia seeds over night in 3tbsp of water… not sure how much of them that I will add to this beverage
Can’t wait to begin my experiment! Thanks again!
