Transcript: Introducing Life Time Talks

Season 1, Episode 1  | January 20, 2020

Jamie Martin

Welcome to Lifetime Talks, the healthy living podcast that’s aimed at helping you achieve your health, fitness, and life goals. I’m Jamie Martin, editor-in-chief of Experience Life, Life Time’s whole life health and fitness magazine.

David Freeman

And I’m David Freeman, the signature program lead for Life Time’s Alpha program. We’re all in different places along our health and fitness journey, but no matter what we are working towards, there are some essential things we can do to keep moving in the direction of a healthy, purpose-driven life.

Jamie Martin

In each episode we’ll cover the foundational elements of healthy living, including fitness and nutrition, health issues like sleep and stress management, and mindfulness and community.

David Freeman

And we’ll be talking to experts from Life Time and beyond who’ll share their insights and knowledge, so you’ll have the tools and information you need to take charge of your next steps. Here we go.

David Freeman

So, it’s been a long, long time coming, but it’s finally here. I’m David Freeman.

Jamie Martin

And I’m Jamie Martin.

David Freeman

And this is Life Time Talks. So, this is exciting. I know we’ve been talking about this for a while; tell us, how exactly does this come about?

Jamie Martin

It’s been a year in the making, the podcast, Life Time Talks coming to life. But I think it really came about, David, you and I’ve been talking about this, out of this need for us providing our members, non-members, anybody who’s interested in healthy living, health and fitness, well-being with really realistic information around what really it takes to live a healthy, happy life.

David Freeman

Yeah.

Jamie Martin

That’s the foundation, really.

David Freeman

I mean, there’s so many things out there right now. Being in the fitness industry for over 10 years, and over those 10 years, there’s been so many different resources that have been thrown out there, and it’s hard to digest so much of that information now that we have like social media, you’ve got TV, you’ve got word of mouth, you have all these different outlets that’s pushing content out there, and it’s very hard to understand what’s right and what’s not right, so using this platform to empower our listeners and educate our listeners, I think it’s going to be the best thing that’s coming.

Jamie Martin

Right. And the goal is really to provide realistic solutions, and tips, and strategies, and resources, because there is, to your point, David, like with social media especially, there’s a lot of bite size information coming at all of us every day. How do we discern what’s actually great information, what’s real, what’s true, what’s been researched, what’s in depth, like how do we? Let’s dive into that, let’s help give people information that we know through the experts that we’re working with — who are both going to be from Life Time and beyond — like what’s actually been proven to work and not work. So let’s bring that information to the audience in a way that’s accessible, so that ideally you can take from any given episode that you’re going to hear from us at least one thing that you can incorporate tomorrow to hopefully help you move forward in your journey wherever you are on it, no matter your age, no matter your goal.

David Freeman

Right. We always talk about how knowledge is power, and I always flip it and say that application of knowledge is power, so taking the tidbits of what we’re going to be providing and educating you guys with daily is going to be powerful.

So, with that being said, we have five pillars. Dive into those for us, Jamie.

Jamie Martin

Yeah. So, we are going to be talking about what we’re calling the five pillars of health. A lot of these actually are things that we cover in the magazine that I run, Experience Life, and we’re kind of bringing some of that to life. But it’s also stuff that our team members, and our clubs, and that our corporate office are talking about all the time, and that we know that people want to know more about. So, we have mindset, we are talking about topics of health and wellness including sleep and stress, fitness, which, David, you’re in every single day.

David Freeman

Yes.

Jamie Martin

And we’ll be talking about nutrition and healthy eating, and then also community. So those are kind of the key pillars that we’re going to hit on in this first season, really helping to set the foundation for what it takes to, you know, really live a healthy, happy life.

David Freeman

Well, that gets me excited. When you think about all those pillars, at some point in time, they’re all intertwined in some which way or fashion, so we’re super excited to bring Life Time Talk to you guys.

Jamie Martin

Yeah, so be sure to tune in for our first episode.

David Freeman

See you guys soon.
