Jamie Zimmerman, M.D. is a young physician, meditation teacher and journalist who lectures internationally on “meditation medicine.” A meditator since age 16, Jamie has had the privilege of studying with many of today’s leading instructors, teaches in Spanish and English, and offers free guided meditations at www.jamiez.tv
Her voice has been featured on the ABC.com, MindBodyGreen, and The Huffington Post. Dedicated to helping create a new wave of medicine that heals, she is collaborating with the Hawn Foundation to develop a curriculum that fosters mindful awareness, compassion, and self-care in the health professions. She believes that healing – on the individual and global level – happens from the inside-out. In this vein, she recently organized and hosted a “Unite for Peace” event with bestselling author Marianne Williamson in New York City.
Passionate about global health, Jamie has lived and worked around the globe – from Belize, Haiti, and the Thai/Burma border to Congolese refugee camps and the Amazon rainforest – all before age 30. Jamie studied at UCLA and Mount Sinai Medical School, where she received the Physicians for Human Rights “Emerging Leaders” award. A Cali-girl at heart, Jamie lives in NYC, works in the ABC News medical unit, and regularly “prescribes meditation” to colleagues, at conferences and with “meditation medicine” clients. When not working, Jamie enjoys watching the sunset over the Hudson, picnics in Central Park, and exploring museums, yoga classes, and new food with friends.
