Luck of the Irish: Green Treats From Experience Life

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Experience Life staff’s favorite green treats!

St. Patrick’s Day is Tuesday, March 17. To help you prepare for this festive Irish holiday, a few Experience Life team members share their favorite green drinks and eats recipes. Enjoy!

Chocolate-Blueberry Goodness

 From Jamie Martin

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2-1 cup milk of your choice (almond, dairy, etc.)
  • 1/4 cup almond or peanut butter
  • 2 tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen spinach
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth. (NOTE: Substitute the spinach for half of an avocado for a creamier alternative.)

Green Goodness

 From Laine Bergeson

  • A couple handfuls of kale
  • 3 or 4 strawberries
  • 5 blueberries
  • 2 tbs. chia seeds
  • Water

Blend all ingredients together until smooth.

Basil + Lemon Drink

 From Laine Bergeson

  • Two big handfuls fresh basil
  • 1 half organic lemon, including peel
  • Water

Blend these ingredients together until smooth.

Matcha + Lemon Drink

 From Laine Bergeson

  • 1 tsp. matcha
  • 1/4 to 1/2 organic lemon, including peel
  • Water

Blend until smooth.

Fried Avocado

Not a fan of green drinks? Try this fried avocado recipe from our circulation coordinator, Christy Rice.

Makes 1 to 2 servings

  • Avocado
  • 1/3 cup coconut flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Coconut oil for frying (or any oil you have available)
  1. Cut avocado lengthwise removing the peel and pit. Keep the slices fairly large for ease in the fry pan.
  2. Roll avocado slices in coconut flour.
  3. Warm oil in fry pan over medium heat. Fry avocado slices a few at a time until golden brown on all sides.
